Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Work Type: Full Time
Job Summary
Provide pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision. Perform patient assessments and implement respiratory care plans. Carry out various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to emergencies (Code Blue and White)
- Manage airway including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
- Deliver aerosolized medications
- Set up and operate ventilators
- Perform oral hygiene and maintain airway retaining devices
- Manage airway support devices such as BiPAP and CPAP
- Administer oxygen delivery and therapeutic monitoring
- Analyze chest films and EKGs
- Collect and analyze blood gases
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation
- Clean and stock equipment and supplies
- Participate in CAP and JC surveys
- May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader
- Advanced skills may include:
- Therapeutic gas management (INO, HeO2)
- Pulmonary function testing
- Bronchoscopy assistance
- Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis
- Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation (Desaturation Studies)
- Polysomnography
- Patient transport duties
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Mexico
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapist experience (within the last year)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Additional Information
- Must obtain required certifications within designated time frames as per employer policy.
