Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour nights
• Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Patient Rooms: 19 (18 private, 1 semi-private)
• Patient Population: Young adults through geriatrics with a broad range of care needs
• Weekends: Required for half of scheduled shifts
• Charting System: Epic (experience required)

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic charting system

Licensure

• Primary source verification required

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Background & Documentation

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
• Employment application and resume required
• 7-year work history verification required
• Photo for badge required
• Various internal compliance documents and attestations required

Additional Notes

• This position does not accept travelers residing in certain counties in Texas (not listed here)
• Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
• Fingerprinting may be required for certain locations (not applicable here)

This role offers an opportunity to work in a telemetry-capable medical-surgical unit with a diverse patient population, requiring strong clinical skills and experience with Epic charting.
