Description
Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Surgical Services (Operating Room)
- Shift:
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) as needed
- Includes 1 weekend shift per month (Saturday or Sunday)
- Holiday rotation required
- On-call up to 4 shifts per month (End of shift to 7 AM)
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet unit needs or between like units
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical Services
- Certifications:
- NBSTSA certification required (NCCT not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency
- Trauma Level: Must be able to work in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment
- Preferred Experience: Neuro (spines/crani), ENT (flaps), Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) cases highly preferred
- First-time travelers: Accepted

Additional Requirements & Information
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, and more within 1 year of start
- Licensure: South Carolina RN license or compact license required; primary source verification mandatory
- Fit Mask: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam updated annually
- Immunizations and titers (Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B) required or documented declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency and OR competency exams required
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
- Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start mandatory
- Radiation Badge Process: Must be obtained prior to starting clinical work; may take 5-7 days to process
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Work History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Notes
- Open to accommodating block schedules with manager approval
- Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be combined to equal 1 shift
