Job Opportunity: Ortho Registered Nurse

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Orthopedic Registered Nurse (Ortho RN)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1845-0715)
  • Unit Size: 38 beds
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: May float to other Medical-Surgical departments as needed
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • On-call: None required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Orthopedics experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • PICC line management and starting IVs
  • Tech Cert Verification - National
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Additional Information

  • Unit Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet recognized
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Dress Code: Any solid color scrub
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Immunizations and/or titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B vaccine series or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccine or positive titer
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
  • TB testing (2-step PPD, TSPOT, or Qgold) within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing required (specific mask types accepted)
  • References: 2 professional references required
  • Competency exam and skills checklist required

Notes

  • Candidates must be able to work within the facility’s return-to-office restrictions (ideally no more than 5 days off)
  • The client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without penalty
  • Badge photo required prior to start
  • Fingerprints must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start (for candidates without an IL license)

This position is suitable for RNs with orthopedic experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting with opportunities to float to med-surg units.
