Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

• Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

• Travel contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Full-time
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call
• No floating between units

Unit and Patient Population

• Very high acuity unit
• Patient cases include strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, sepsis, and some trauma (not a trauma-designated unit)
• Security onsite 24/7

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

• 4:1

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• CPI Blue Card

Job Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a high-acuity setting
• Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers
• Demonstrate leadership consistent with professional nursing standards and organizational competencies
