Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department
Location
- Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
- Full-time
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call
- No floating between units
Unit and Patient Population
- Very high acuity unit
- Patient cases include strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, sepsis, and some trauma (not a trauma-designated unit)
- Security onsite 24/7
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio
- 4:1
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- CPI Blue Card
Job Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a high-acuity setting
- Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers
- Demonstrate leadership consistent with professional nursing standards and organizational competencies
