Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - ER/Medsurg Swing

Location: Breckenridge, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for an ER/Medsurg Swing role in a trauma level IV facility with STEMI receiving and Stroke designation. The position involves rotating 12-hour day and night shifts with weekend and holiday requirements.

Department

• Emergency Room (ER)
• Trauma Level IV, STEMI receiving, Stroke Center designation
• 4 beds and 2 trauma bays
• ER holds intermixed within the ER
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms available

Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM
• Day/Night rotation
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holidays required if they fall within the blocked schedule
• Block scheduling may be considered
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating to Med/Surg and Swing bed units on the same floor

Patient Care Environment

• Average 10 patients treated per day in the ER
• ED physician coverage present
• Charge nurse on each shift who also takes patient assignments
• Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient sitters available on call
• Respiratory Therapist not available 24/7; RNs troubleshoot respiratory equipment
• RNs required to read their own cardiac monitor strips
• Lab staff perform phlebotomy and transport for X-Ray/CT

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) experience
• Previous Med/Surg experience required

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs

Additional Information

• Radius rule: Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius and not currently or recently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with certain affiliated health systems within the past year
• Orientation: Unit/department-specific orientation provided with 12-hour shifts
