Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Long Term Care (LTC) - Nights

Location: Bellaire, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques and policies.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatments and examinations.
  • Observe residents, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify appropriate parties of changes.
  • Take vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure) to assess resident condition.
  • Assign duties and coordinate nursing services on the unit to meet resident needs per physician instructions and regulations.
  • Consult with shift supervisor on nursing issues and policy interpretation.
  • Report complaints or unusual problems and assist with complaint reports.
  • Participate in orientation, training, and evaluation of nursing personnel.
  • Evaluate nursing activities to ensure quality resident care and staff efficiency.
  • Maintain records for unit narcotics and inspect resident rooms for cleanliness and comfort.
  • Document admissions, discharges, transfers, and incident reports per policy.
  • Participate in care plan process, complete nursing assessments and care plans accurately and timely.
  • Complete special projects and audits as directed.
  • Maintain all required educational and licensing requirements for the State of Michigan.
  • Attend facility in-services and ward conferences as assigned.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  • Comply with Resident Rights rules and promptly report all resident accidents and injuries.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Long Term Care (LTC), Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), or Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) settings.
  • Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Must have completed at least 1 prior successful travel assignment as an RN.
  • Ability to meet a Return to Office (RTO) requirement of no more than 5 days after offer acceptance.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is strongly preferred; if declined, mask-wearing is mandated.
  • Must provide:
    • Work history with explanations for any employment gaps over 3 months.
    • Skills checklist specific to nursing discipline (less than 1 year old).
    • Two supervisory references from the past two years.
    • Active certifications at time of submission.
    • COVID vaccination status if applicable.

Scheduling & Work Hours

  • 36 hours per week, scheduled as every other weekend plus 2 shifts during the week.
  • Schedule may include weekends (Saturday or Sunday) plus two weekdays.
  • Block scheduling is not approved; flexibility required.
  • Timesheets are uploaded unsigned for review; facility does not sign timesheets.

Additional Information

  • Locals residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this assignment.
  • Limited housing options; candidates should arrange accommodations in advance.
  • The facility has a dog, cat, and birds on site; candidates must be comfortable with animals.
