Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse
Location: Spokane Valley, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 (may visit up to 6 patients per day; 30 productivity points standard)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Weekend Requirement: No

- Locals Accepted: Yes (within 50-75 mile radius)
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off up to one shift every two weeks
- Transportation: Traveler must have own transportation; occasional travel up to 50+ miles
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of hospice nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience in a Home Health setting
- Home Care Home Base (HCHB) experience
Required Licenses & Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
Special Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation for patient visits
- Experience with electronic charting systems (EPIC and HCHB) — laptop provided
- No weekend or on-call shifts required
Facility & Work Environment
- Type of Facility: Home Health / Hospice
- Attire: Any basic color scrubs
- Parking: Free
- Mileage Reimbursement: IRS standard
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual update required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator fit testing required annually (travel only)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
Training & Competency
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules annually (regulatory, specialty, and regional modules)
- Medication competency exams as applicable
- Epic charting training required (completion within one week of orientation)
Additional Notes
- No prior travel experience required, but first-time travelers are not accepted for this role
- Floating to other units or facilities is not required
- Weekend shifts are not required
- Locals within 50-75 miles are considered and accepted at the same rate
This position is ideal for experienced hospice RNs with home care experience looking for a travel contract in the Spokane Valley area with day shifts and no weekend or on-call requirements.
