Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Outpatient

Location: Florissant, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule options:
    • Five 8-hour days, or
    • Four 10-hour days
  • Weekly schedule includes 14 evaluations; remaining time dedicated to treatments.
  • Chart review time provided twice daily for 8-hour shifts, three times daily for 10-hour shifts (30 minutes each).
  • Facility is a free-standing outpatient setting with one-on-one patient care.
  • Evaluation appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes. Treatment sessions typically last 30 minutes, with some extending to 45 or 60 minutes depending on patient needs.
  • Patient population: approximately 70% orthopedic, 30% neurological.
  • Specialty programs include pelvic health, lymphedema, LSVT, chronic pain, and vestibular therapy.
  • Multidisciplinary team includes PTs, PTAs, OTs, and SLPs.
  • Orientation: 1.5 days hospital orientation + 1.5 days department orientation, followed by patient load start with additional charting time during first 1-2 weeks.
  • Dress code: Business casual.
  • Therapists will receive Epic electronic health record training during orientation.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Missouri
  • Physical Therapist with 0 years of experience (new graduates accepted)
  • Physical Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Patient Care Focus

  • One-on-one outpatient therapy.
  • Variety of diagnoses with a focus on orthopedic and neurological conditions.
  • Access to specialty therapy programs (pelvic health, lymphedema, LSVT, chronic pain, vestibular).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 6 months required (including statewide and nationwide searches).
  • Education verification required prior to start.
  • Various state-specific background checks and registries as applicable.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start required and must remain valid throughout assignment.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually.
  • Facility-specific compliance training and acknowledgment forms must be completed prior to start.
  • Professional references required (two professional references preferred, supervisors within last year preferred).
  • Employment application and unit-specific competency exams required.

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted for this travel position.
  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
  • No floating or on-call duties.
  • Business casual dress code.
  • Orientation includes Epic training and additional charting time initially.
