Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: May 6 or ASAP
Shift: Rotating 3x12 hour shifts (day/night)
- Day shift: 07:00 - 19:30
- Night shift: 19:00 - 07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty, including to a sister campus
- On-call: Not required
Unit Details
- Pediatric Medical/Surgical unit with NICU focus
- Preferred experience in:
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Prematurity care
- Apnea of Prematurity (AOP)
- Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
- Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia/Chronic Lung Disease (BLD/CLD)
- Cardiac defects
- Feeding issues
- Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and iatrogenic NAS
- Tracheostomy care (required)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Certifications (as applicable)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) (if applicable)
- STABLE certification (if applicable)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (if applicable)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I-9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
- Drug screening (9-panel, negative result within 30 days prior to start)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for pediatric units)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (for 2025-26 season)
- COVID-19 vaccination: Not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of work history
Additional Notes
- Floating within the specialty and to a sister campus is required
- Holidays and every other weekend shifts are mandatory as scheduled
- On-call shifts are not required for this position
