Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Position Overview
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a Medical ICU setting. Accountable for individualized patient outcomes throughout the episode of care. Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
Unit Description
- 8-bed Medical ICU
- Chest pain accredited center (no cath lab or IR on-site)
- Set group of intensivists rotating weekly with 24/7 on-call coverage during the week
- ICU Charge RN also serves as Rapid Response RN
Shift Details
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Nights: 18:45 - 07:15)
- 36 guaranteed hours weekly
- No call requirements
- May be required to float within competency level
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Eve + Day = 1 holiday)
- May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nevada
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NIHSS certification
Additional Information
- Travelers may be subject to schedule changes or call-offs with 48 hours’ notice due to census fluctuations
- Intensive continuous mental effort required for safe patient care and decision-making
- Patient population includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with complex critical care needs
