Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ICU
Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
- Number of Beds: 12
- Patient Ratios: Standard ICU ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients (may vary with acuity)
- Staffing: 1 dayshift secretary, primary RN staffing
- Equipment: Standard critical care equipment plus Impella heart pump, Hemosphere advanced monitoring platform
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling: Participative scheduling with minimum 3 weekend shifts per month; block scheduling not guaranteed
- Floating Policy: Must float to other units such as PCU/Medical Surgical as needed
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
Job Responsibilities & Skills
- Care for post open-heart surgery patients, minimum 1 to 2 days postoperative
- Manage Impella heart pump and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) — CRRT experience is a plus
- Respond to rapid response calls and code blue situations as part of the critical care team
- Perform procedures including intubations, CRRT, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Provide patient care with courtesy and respect, timely response to call lights
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in ICU
- At least 1 year of recent Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) experience
- Cardiac critical care experience, including care for post open-heart surgery patients (minimum 1 to 2 days postoperative)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Experience with intubations, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), and hemodynamic monitoring
Additional Notes
- Travelers are subject to floating to other units within the facility
- Critical care staff designated to respond to rapid and code blue situations
- Unit emphasizes patient experience and respectful care
