Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Nights (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Start Date: ASAP
Weekend Requirement: Rotating, approximately 4 weekend shifts per month
Call Requirements: None
Unit Overview
- Respiratory Therapy department located in the basement
- Approximately 50 staff members total
- Day shift: 1 supervisor + 7-9 staff
- Night shift: 1 supervisor + 7-9 staff
- Patient assignments based on volume, typically 35-40 patients per shift
- Equipment includes GE ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, Airvo HFNC
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
- Permanent positions available on the unit
Job Responsibilities
- Perform standard respiratory therapy procedures including:
- Nebulizers
- Chest physiotherapy (CPT)
- Arterial blood gases
- Ventilator management
- Inhaled nitric oxide administration
- Bronchoscopy assistance
- Intubation assistance
- Transporting mechanically ventilated patients within the hospital (e.g., to CT/MRI)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year in an acute care setting
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, NBRC
- Experience working with adult patients
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in adult critical care, ICU, or Emergency Department settings
Work Environment & Culture
- Collaborative team environment within the Respiratory Therapy department and across hospital disciplines
- Dress code: Olive green scrub tops and black pants required; other attire not acceptable
