Registered Nurse (RN) - Nights Weekend Package

Location: Chariton, Iowa
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide direct patient care under limited supervision.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care for Med-Surg patients.
  • Collaborate effectively with other shifts and departments to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate courtesy and cooperation with co-workers, patients, and visitors.
  • Deliver nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions on the unit, including direct patient care.
  • Stay calm and resourceful during emergencies.
  • Communicate patient needs and unit issues to physicians, nurses, and other staff.
  • Use gathered data to prioritize patient physical, psychological, educational, and discharge needs in care planning.
  • Identify problems and guide personnel toward solutions.
  • Foster a positive work environment that supports growth and job satisfaction.
  • Administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available.
  • Implement nursing interventions safely using knowledge, judgment, and skill.
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care plans and adjust as needed.
  • Prioritize workload effectively.
  • Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training.
  • Maintain professional patient confidentiality.
  • Observe and support hospital policies and procedures.
  • Work independently with limited supervision, adhering to nursing standards and professional judgment.
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Attend required meetings and in-services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience, including Med-Surg experience within the last year.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Certification in Advanced Trauma Training (ATT).
  • Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
  • Certification in Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC).
  • Certification in Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
  • Membership or certification with the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
  • Certification in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Certification in STABLE program (post-resuscitation/pre-transport care of sick infants).
  • Certification in Advanced Surgical Life Support (ASLS).
  • Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
  • Certification in Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
