Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Surgical Technician assists the healthcare team during the intra-operative period, focusing on preparation and handling of surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting the surgeon during procedures. This role involves caring for patients across all age groups (neonate through geriatric) and requires the ability to prioritize, plan, and problem-solve in a dynamic surgical environment. The Surgical Tech must recognize urgent or emergency situations and apply knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic technique, and equipment use.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Care for, prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instruments.
- Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy.
- Adhere to professional standards of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technician experience, including experience within the last year.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification.
- Experience in spine and vascular surgical procedures.
