Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery
Location: New Braunfels, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Job Summary
The competent RN practices independently in a similar clinical setting, providing routine and complex nursing care. The nurse demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care, manages contingencies, and delegates appropriately to other care providers. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of assigned patients, addressing complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice using the nursing process.
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Meet organizational competencies related to leadership and clinical practice.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year required.
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid RN license in Texas required.
- Current certification in one of the following fetal monitoring courses: AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
- Current STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants).
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Additional Information
- Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
- New hires receive preceptorship and must complete organizational and Perinatal Services-specific competency validations.
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, night shift (7 PM - 7 AM)
