Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lakin, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6 PM – 6 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Floating: Required (may float to Med Surg, ER, or skilled swing bed units)

Job Description

• Must have at least 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience (this is the minimum required specialty experience).
• Will float to Medical-Surgical and Emergency Room units as needed.
• Floating duties may include assisting with skilled swing bed patients, medical patients, or ER patients.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Labor and Delivery nursing experience of at least 2 years, with experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required.
• Prior travel experience is NOT accepted for first-time travelers (first-time travelers are not accepted).

Additional Requirements

• Must submit all required documentation at time of submission, including:

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Background checks (7-year criminal check, SS trace, sex offender, etc.)
  • Education verification (transcript or diploma)
  • State-specific exclusion checks
  • Drug screening (10-panel within a year, updated annually)
  • Immunizations and titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B)
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - March 31)
  • Physical exam and TB test (negative PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or chest X-ray if applicable)
  • Competency exams and annual training attestations (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)

Scheduling & Other Notes

• Block scheduling is allowed.
• Locals are accepted.
• All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application.
• Must be able to work every other weekend.
• Floating to other units is required when patient census is low in L&D.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses who are comfortable working night shifts and floating to other units as needed.
