Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • License Requirement: Must have a valid District of Columbia RN license in hand to submit
  • Schedule:
    • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
    • On-call required: 2 night calls and 3 weekend calls per month
      • Night calls during the week: 11 PM – 7 AM
      • Weekend call shifts: 7 AM – 3 PM, 3 PM – 11 PM, or 11 PM – 7 AM
    • No floating between units
    • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • Patient Ratio: 9 rooms

Required Certifications & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in District of Columbia
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Compliance & Documentation

  • Proof of I-9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
  • E-Verify or attestation
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history, social security trace, sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands (completed by a physician; facility-specific form required)
  • Fit mask testing within one year of start, updated annually (3M 1860, 3M 1870+, Aura 9502 masks accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or titer; declination form accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required for low/equivocal titers; no declinations allowed
    • Hepatitis B: vaccine series, titer, or declination form
    • Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters for low/equivocal titers; declinations accepted only for medical/religious reasons
    • Flu vaccine required annually; medical and religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
    • COVID-19: full vaccination required prior to start; booster preferred but not required; medical and religious exemptions subject to approval
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment application/resume including licensure, certifications, education, and employment history
