Description
Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Tech
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 06:45 AM – 5:15 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (Thursday off; shift may change during interview)
Call: 3-4 calls per month expected
Start Date: ASAP
Job Description
- Position requires experience in Surgical Services with a focus on Pediatric OR.
- Must have Cardiovascular (CV) experience.
- Pediatric experience is strictly required.
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility.
- Required to submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at time of application; late submissions will not be accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of experience.
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
- Minimum of 2 years total travel experience.
- NBSTSA certification.
- Experience working with Pediatric patients.
- Cardiovascular (CV) experience.
- Pediatric experience.
Certifications Required
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- Other certifications may be required depending on specific unit assignments.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter.
- Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search (TN only).
- Education verification required (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu).
- Two recent professional references required.
- Skills checklist and internal evaluations required annually or as applicable.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
- Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for this pediatric role).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
- Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year of start (no exceptions).
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs for RNs.
- Caribbean blue for Respiratory Therapists.
- Steel gray scrubs for Surgical Techs and OB Techs.
- No prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.
- White lab coat or matching scrub jacket optional for CT Techs.
- Business casual with lab coat for RN Case Managers.
- Department directors and other clinical staff may wear business attire with lab coat when delivering patient care.
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats/headphones, no glasses glare, taken within last 6 months).
- Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed prior to start.
- Onsite fit test and questionnaires may be required.
- Flu exemption forms require detailed documentation and may delay start date.
