Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Voorhees, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Floating required within 5 hospitals based on needs (within skillset).
- Circulating and scrub experience required.
- Emphasis on knee and hip replacement, spine, hand, and foot surgery.
- Weekends and call rotation with staff.
- Hospital provides scrubs.
- First-time travelers accepted but not preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- OR experience with major emphasis on knee replacement, hip replacement, spine, hand, and foot surgeries.
- Circulating experience required.
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, valid at contract start.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for applicable units.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP).
- State RN license with primary source verification.
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
- Pass/fail competency testing including dysrhythmia challenge for certain units.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Color Blind Testing within 1 year of start.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
- Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as applicable (e.g., stroke and trauma for ER RNs).
Background & Health Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Physical exam within last 12 months.
- Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation (required before first shift).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire.
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Drug screening: 10 panel drug screen without THC within 6 months, updated annually.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by October 31 each year.
- Visual acuity exam (20/40 or better).
- Latex questionnaire.
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation.
- Government-issued photo ID.
- E-Verify documentation.
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually).
- Work history verification (minimum 1 year prior to start date, allowing 30-day gaps or less).
- Two professional references within last 2 years.
- Facility-specific documents including badge photo and, if applicable, personal or auto insurance for home health assignments.
Additional Notes
- Floating may include multiple hospital locations within the region.
- Local candidates within 50 miles may have different pay considerations (not included here).
- Prior travel experience is not required but preferred.
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with strong orthopedic surgery skills who are flexible to float across multiple hospital sites and work weekends and call rotations.
