Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Alternating 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (1800-0630)

• Patient Diagnoses:

  • Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • COVID
  • Influenza
  • Rhinovirus
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • COPD
  • Respiratory Failure

• Special Procedures:

  • Bronchoscopy
  • Ventilator weaning
  • Tracheostomy suction and cares
  • Thoracentesis

• Special Equipment:

  • Airvo
  • Servou
  • Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilator (IPV)
  • Ventilator

• Additional Notes:

  • Potential float to Medical Center Unit
  • Self-scheduling available
  • Locals accepted within 50-mile radius at a lower rate
  • Requests to return to origin (RTO) limited to 2 per contract
  • No other RRTs on the unit
  • Experienced travelers preferred but first-timers accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (specific to acute hospital settings)
• Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication knowledge with remediation process if needed

Documentation and Compliance

• Driver’s license or state ID required
• Background checks and verifications as listed above
• State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• Confidentiality agreement and code of conduct acknowledgment
• Completion of demographic and employment application forms
• Skills checklist and work history verification required
• Missouri-specific electronic driver’s license (EDL) search within 30 days of start
