Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts with variable start/stop times (ranges from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM)
- Start Date: ASAP
- On-call: Yes, 1 call shift per month
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, 1 weekend shift per month
- Floating: No floating required
- Locals: Not accepted; candidate’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks)
Required Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Preferred Experience: PACU Phase II and Pediatric PACU experience preferred
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Alaska RN License (must have license in hand for auto offer; pending license accepted for screening)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test or chest X-ray (annual)
- Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require both positive titer and vaccine series)
- Fit mask test (annual) required for travel candidates
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Training & Competency
- Must complete required competency exams and skills checklists as applicable
- Required to complete facility and specialty-specific WorkRamp modules annually (including regulatory and specialty-specific training)
- Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
- PACU Phase II experience
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association

- Candidates must comply with all state and facility-specific background and credentialing requirements
- Floating policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to nearby facilities)
- Pending licenses accepted for screening but must have active Alaska RN license for auto offer
- Locals not accepted; candidate must reside at least 50 miles away from the facility
