Description
RN Charge Nurse
Location: Bethel, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in a Family Medicine Clinic setting. Directs and coordinates nursing care based on nursing practice standards, manages immediate personnel on the unit, and holds some managerial responsibilities. Collaborates with other charge nurses and healthcare professionals to drive best practices, coordinate patient and process flows, and provide quality, cost-effective care. Serves as a resource person when needed. Provides care for patients from birth to elderly, applying age-specific considerations and cultural diversity.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a Clinic setting, including experience within the last year
- Experience in charge nurse roles
- Experience in Urgent Care settings
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to practice nursing according to Alaska state regulations.
- Cognitive and technical knowledge to manage care across the continuum.
- Ability to administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient/family education.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to work effectively in a patient care setting.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to document care delivery accurately.
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Basic mathematical skills including calculations and data interpretation.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversees unit secretaries, patient care technicians (PCTs), certified medical assistants (CMAs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and registered nurses (RNs) in collaboration with the Director. Assists with resume review and acquisition of agency or traveling nursing staff.
