Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Specialty: Oncology Medical Surgical
  • Shift: 48 hours per week
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Minimum Experience Required: 3 years recent oncology medical surgical experience (Note: First-time travelers accepted only if they have 3 years recent experience)
  • Team Nursing Model (candidates should be familiar or discuss during interview)
  • On-Call: As needed
  • Weekend Requirement: As needed (no weekend block schedule, but weekend block may be considered)
  • Local candidates within 100-mile radius not accepted (strict rule)
  • Pending licenses not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
  • Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions apply and must be submitted with application

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Tennessee or multistate license compliant with NLC
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Certificate/provider card required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except pediatric specialty)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years recent oncology medical surgical nursing experience (strict requirement)
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Experience in a large hospital setting preferred
  • Must be able to work in a Level I Trauma Center environment

Schedule & Work Environment

  • 48 hours per week
  • Team nursing model
  • On-call and weekend shifts as needed
  • No block scheduling except possible weekend block consideration

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 60 days of start (statewide, county, federal, education verification)
  • Drug test: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no pending results accepted)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year of start (must pass)
  • Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or titer)
  • TB test: Negative 2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Two recent professional references required
  • Skills checklist and internal evaluations as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must submit all required documentation at time of application; late submissions may delay or prevent clearance
  • Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats, no glasses with glare, recent within 6 months)
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
  • Confidentiality acknowledgment and flu exemption forms must be signed prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with recent travel experience who are comfortable working in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center environment.
