Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Canton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
- Experience Required: Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- License: Must have a permanent Ohio RN license or a compact state license in hand
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from AHA or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be obtained prior to start)
- Electronic Health Record: Must have Epic experience
- References: One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
- Competency Testing:
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam will be completed during orientation; passing scores are required
- Holiday Work: Must be willing to work at least every other holiday
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of telemetry experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, with annual updates as required
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required annually (no declinations accepted without approved exemption)
Background and Documentation
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA-compliant 7-year search and education verification
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually
- Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history, including 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty
- Photo for badge (headshot, shoulders up, white background)
- Completion of onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all required onboarding modules before clearance to start
- Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since their last contract at the same health system may be exempt from some orientation requirements
- Physical and eye exams do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break
- Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting at the facility if required
- SafeMedicate and ECG competency exams are mandatory during orientation with remediation and retake opportunities if needed
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs who hold the appropriate Ohio licensure, have strong clinical skills, and are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced acute care environment.
