Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General

Location: Farmington, New Mexico (Travel position covering multiple clinics in Gallup, Farmington, and Santa Fe, NM)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

• This is a traveling sonographer position requiring travel between clinics in Gallup, Farmington, and Santa Fe, NM.
• Daily shift hours: 5:15 AM to approximately 6:30-7:00 PM (includes travel time).
• The team departs from a central location each morning and returns in the evening.
• Sonographer will sometimes drive the outreach van; a safe driving module must be completed.
• Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
• Cases primarily involve low and high-level women's imaging for pregnant women.
• Equipment used includes GE E22, GE E10, and GE S10 ultrasound machines.
• No local candidates within 100 miles accepted.
• COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
• Weekend work and on-call are not required.
• Floating between locations within scope of practice is expected.

Required Qualifications

• Ultrasound Technologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Recent ultrasound technologist experience within the last year.
• ARDMS certification, including OB/GYN and Fetal Echocardiography (Fetal Echo Certified).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• New Mexico State License.
• Experience with high-level women's imaging for pregnant women.

Additional Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (declination, series, or titer)
• Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions allowed.
• Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months).
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and federal exclusions.
• Completion of facility-specific compliance forms and training modules.
• References: Two professional references within the last three years.
• Work history verification for at least 3 years.

Facility & Work Environment

• Level I Trauma, Teaching, Children’s Hospital, Short-term acute care setting.
• Charting system: Cerner.
• Parking: No fee.
• Overtime applies after 48 hours.
• New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks.
• A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative travel work.

• Locals within 100 miles are not accepted.
• Travel involves early morning departures and late returns.
• Must be comfortable with travel and driving responsibilities as part of the role.
