Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Manager
Location: Petoskey, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Manager is a nurse leadership role responsible for ensuring the quality of care and patient safety within their area. This position involves strong communication, relationship-building, leadership, professionalism, and business skills. The manager supports nursing excellence aligned with recognized nursing leadership standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making, including shared governance.
- Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of healthcare, promoting care delivery that respects individual rights and preferences.
- Accept organizational accountability for services provided.
- Coordinate nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assist in integrating services across the healthcare continuum.
- Provide guidance and supervision to nursing staff, overseeing staffing and scheduling based on scope of practice, competencies, patient needs, and care complexity.
- Orient new staff and provide individual feedback on staff development and performance evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor budgets for the assigned area.
- Engage nursing staff in evaluative research to promote evidence-based practice and shared accountability.
- Maintain open communication forums for staff to discuss issues and seek guidance.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably with the majority in acute care and relevant to the behavioral health patient population.
- Leadership experience in nursing management.
- Valid Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
