Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVOR

Location: Paducah, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
  • Call every 3rd weekend
  • 1-2 nights per week on call

Job Description

  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience required
  • No scrubbing required
  • Must be competent with complex cardiovascular procedures including:
    • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
    • Aortic, Mitral, Tricuspid valve procedures
    • TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
    • Aortic arch and root replacements with circulatory arrest
    • ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
    • Impella insertions
    • Open thoracotomies, laparoscopic thoracoscopies, mediastinoscopies, and other related chest procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with experience within the last year
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License if driving is part of job responsibilities
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification matching specialty; diploma or transcript may be required
  • NURSYS verification for RN license
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
  • Fit mask testing annually; religious exemption process available if needed
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer proof
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer proof
  • Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
  • Two professional references required

Additional Requirements

  • Unit-specific skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
  • Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background)
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies on flu and COVID-19 vaccinations and exemptions
