Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Job Summary
- Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans; observe, record, and communicate patient conditions.
- Coordinate care across multiple disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
- Follow physician and nursing orders accurately.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in a stressful environment.
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) current certification.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or MOAB High Risk De-Escalation training (online portion completed prior to start; on-site portion at orientation).
- Emergency Pediatric Life Support (EPLS).
Onboarding & Testing Requirements
- Specialty competency exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics, with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Cerner electronic health record test-out required prior to assignment.
- EKG competency exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Various onboarding attestations and education verifications required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive immunity titer (no declinations accepted).
- Proof of two Varicella vaccines or immunity evidence (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA testing with annual TB questionnaire; chest X-ray if positive.
- Fit test for respiratory protection required annually.
- Health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID matching address on file.
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry within 30 days of assignment start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Profile/resume submission required.
- Badge photo (headshot with white or blue background, no alterations).
