Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 31-bed mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Primarily supports medicine services
- Cares for a variety of stepdown and med/surg patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Comfortable with CPAP/BiPAP and medication titrations
- Ability to be charge-capable on night shifts
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (mask required if declined)
- Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, with specific code for healthcare
- Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear prior to or at start (pending results allowed with attestation)
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership role)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply)

- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually
- Various facility-specific compliance and ethics policies must be reviewed and signed annually
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment (check with recruiter)
This position is ideal for RNs with PCU or med/surg stepdown experience who are comfortable working nights and taking charge responsibilities. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
