Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Emergency Room (ER) experience to work day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM). This role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a patient ratio of approximately 1:3.5. The position requires comfort with triage, dysrhythmia interpretation, emergency medications, procedural sedation, ventilated patients, trauma cases, psych holds, and pediatric emergency care.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
  • Competency in triage, dysrhythmia interpretation, procedural sedation, trauma care, and pediatric emergency care

Experience & Skills

  • Comfortable managing triage and emergency care for adult and pediatric patients
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency medication administration
  • Experience with procedural sedation and care of ventilated patients
  • Able to manage trauma and psychiatric holds

Orientation & Training

  • 36 hours of orientation provided
  • Annual safety manual acknowledgement required
  • Unit-specific competency exams and remediation processes in place

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (declination acceptable)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (mask required if declined)
  • References: 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership
