Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU/Med Surg/Oncology

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (various start times including 7a-7p, 7a-3p, 3p-7p, 7p-11p, 11p-7a, 7p-7a)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • PCU Days: 1:4
  • Med/Surg Days: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:5-6
• Nursing Assistant Support: Yes
• Charge Nurse: Yes
• Additional Support Staff: PT/OT, RN Case Manager, Social Work, Educator, Dietician
• Float: Yes, to same level of care units (Med/Surg and PCU)

Required Certifications & Competencies

• Valid RN license in Nebraska
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year of Hematology/Oncology experience within the last year
• PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) or ONCC (Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation) certification

Equipment & Technology

• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Specialty Equipment: Lyko lifts and other lift equipment available

Orientation & Training

• Orientation length: 2 days
• Includes a pass/fail exam during orientation (open book, 90% required to pass)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in PCU and/or Oncology
• Oncology and PCU experience preferred
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome

Summary

This is a 13-week contract for an RN with PCU, Med Surg, and Oncology experience. The role requires strong clinical skills, certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse environment with a focus on oncology and trauma patients. Orientation includes a skills exam, and the unit supports professional growth with real-time training on advanced monitoring equipment. The position offers 12-hour shifts with self-scheduling and every other weekend off.
