Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Location: Easton, Maryland

Job Description

• Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
• Shift: Rotating Mid and Evening shifts (11:00 AM - 11:30 PM / 3:00 PM - 3:30 AM)
• Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts accepted; every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
• Patient Population: Combined adult and pediatric emergency department, fast-paced and high volume
• Patient Diagnoses: Wide range of complex cases including multi-diagnoses across pediatric through geriatric populations
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity patients
• Floating: Required within the specialty and to other sister emergency departments as needed
• On-Call: Not required

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (completed on-site during onboarding)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in emergency care
• First-time travelers accepted with strong experience and skillset (prior travel experience not required)
• STEMI and Stroke certifications preferred

Work Environment

• Fast-paced, high volume emergency department
• Combined adult and pediatric patient care
• Rotating shifts with weekend and holiday coverage required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
• Physical exam and immunizations (including TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemptions)
• Drug screening (negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen required)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start
• Various competency exams including medication, age-specific, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blindness testing as applicable
• Photo for badge and security ID application required
• Signed confidentiality agreement, dress code review, and other facility-specific documents prior to start

Additional Notes

• Orientation typically held at 8 AM on Tuesdays (dress code: royal blue scrubs or business casual)
• Floating within emergency departments may be required
• Candidates must be prepared to take medication and EKG/arrhythmia exams at orientation (85% passing score required)
