Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Oncology
  • Shift: 4x12 or 3x12 day shifts (7:15 AM - 6:45 PM)
  • Average Daily Census: 24 patients (24 rooms/beds)
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: May float within scope as needed
  • Schedule Flexibility: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Oncology nursing experience of at least 1 year within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • National Tech Certification Verification
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • Chemotherapy skills including:
    • Administration of chemotherapy via IV push, continuous infusion, and oral routes
    • Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
    • Management and disposal of cytotoxic spills
  • IV Therapy and infusion skills including:
    • Accessing ports and central lines
    • Administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, blood and blood products
    • Central line blood draws

Additional Requirements

  • On-call: Not required
  • RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
  • Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
  • Scrub Color: Any solid color
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License or State ID
  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification (degree or transcript)
  • Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting (must be done in Illinois, 3 business days prior to start)
  • Competency exam (clinical candidates)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs
  • Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates
  • Badge photo required before start
  • Code of conduct acknowledgment
