Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PICU
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Care for patients up to 25 years old, including epilepsy monitoring and specialized pediatric care
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) with required passing scores
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- At least 1.5 years of PICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Minimum 18 months of recent pediatric experience
- Experience working with pediatric patients, including specialized pediatric care up to age 25
- Experience in epilepsy monitoring
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- CVOR - NBSTSA or CST - NBSTSA certification
Required Health & Compliance Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, with annual updates if applicable
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
- Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) within 12 months, updated annually
Orientation & Training
- Completion of required online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Passing baseline competency exams on medication administration and ECG interpretation during orientation
- SafeMedicate exam preparation materials provided
Additional Requirements
- Must have 2 professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application including at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area
- Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required beyond the specialty experience noted
- Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting at the facility if not already done
- Candidates with gaps in employment over 6 months may need to repeat orientation modules and competency exams
