Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN - Urology/Nephrology)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Nights, either 4x12 or 3x12 (1845-0715)
- Unit: 25-bed Medical Surgical unit with an average daily census of 23
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to other Medical Surgical units as needed
- Block Scheduling: Will try to accommodate but not guaranteed
- Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
- On-Call: Not required
- Charge Nurse: Will work charge as needed
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Med Surg nursing experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Tech Cert Verification - National
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State License 1 Verification
- NURSYS Verification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in pre/post hemodialysis management
- Experience managing renal failure cases
- Blood product administration experience
- Central line blood draw experience
- PICC line management experience
- Chest tubes experience (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- CPAP/BiPAP experience
- Non-invasive airway management experience
- Portable oxygen tank use experience
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system
Additional Requirements
- References: Two professional references required
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks required including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within one year of start
- Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates
- Photo for Badge: Required within one week of contract signing
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet recognized
- Scrub color: Any solid color scrubs allowed
- Charting system: Cerner
Notes
- Candidates ideally should have no more than 5 days of return-to-office restrictions
- Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
- Floating to other units may be required within scope of practice
