Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: CVOR Registered Nurse (Days)
  • Requires open heart experience
  • Must be able to float to other units within the health system as needed, only to units where qualified and competent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Call requirements to be discussed during interview

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
  • Minimum of 1 year CVOR experience, including CVOR experience within the last year
  • Open heart surgical experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work (I-9, Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Background check within 12 months including 7-year history, alias searches, and state/county verifications
  • Ongoing monthly federal sanction checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Fingerprinting may be required depending on prior residency
  • Highest level of education verification required (diplomas not accepted as placeholders)
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS license verification showing authorization to work in South Carolina
  • Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (not required for remote roles)
  • Respirator fit test to be completed onsite during orientation
  • Badge photo meeting facility standards required prior to start

Orientation and Testing

  • Completion of online orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment
  • Pre-assignment testing (medication and arrhythmia tests) required with two attempts allowed
  • EKG practice and study guides provided for required units
  • Annual competency exams and core training (Parts I, II, III) required
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required annually for medication-dispensing roles
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge required for applicable units

Additional Notes

  • Floating policy must be signed and renewed annually
  • Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific policies and training requirements
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • Call requirements and additional unit-specific certifications will be discussed during the interview process
