Respiratory Therapist - Travel Contract

Location: Santa Maria, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a travel contract in a hospital setting. The role involves working with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, with a requirement for NICU experience to work in that area.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
Active certifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
COVID-19 vaccination required
Proficiency with bronchoscopy procedures
NICU experience required to work in NICU

Work Details

Unit: Respiratory
EMR system: Cerner
Charge RT position available, 24/7 coverage
Weekend requirement: every other weekend
Holiday coverage: rotated with core staff
Call: not required
Shift length: 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
Orientation: up to 3 shifts floor-specific orientation
Ventilators used: Puritan Bennett 840
Telemetry monitors: Phillips
Hospitalist or Intensivist available in-house
No IV team support
Pharmacy available 24/7

Typical Duties

EKGs
Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
Breathing treatments
Ventilator management
High flow nasal cannula
Chest physiotherapy (chest vests)
Vapotherm therapy

Additional Notes

Prior travel experience is preferred but not required.
Candidates without NICU experience will not be assigned to NICU patients.
