Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
  • Shift: Block schedule required
  • Weekends: 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks required
  • Float: No floating between units
  • On-call: Not required
  • Patient Ratio: 1:3

Required Experience and Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
  • NURSYS verification required

Special Requirements

  • Block scheduling is mandatory
  • No 48-hour shifts approved
  • Dress code: Solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs for licensed nursing personnel
  • Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit prior travel experience required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Respirator fit testing (annual, travel only)
  • Background checks including national and state-specific searches
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Training and Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual update)
  • Specialty-specific WorkRamp modules and regulatory training (annual completion required)
  • Epic training modules completion may be required depending on region
  • Additional competency exams for specific units (e.g., Electronic Fetal Monitoring for L&D RNs)

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment required (may be asked to float to nearby facilities)
  • Badge photo required prior to start
  • All certifications must be current and from approved organizations (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation for ACLS, BLS, PALS)
  • Background checks must be updated and clear of disqualifying offenses
