Registered Nurse - Rehab
Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Inpatient Rehab Unit with 15 beds
- Staff per shift:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
- Patient Ratios: Typically 5:1, maximum 6:1
- Equipment used: Vital signs machines, transfer equipment (Hoyer lift, sliding boards), EKG, bladder scanner
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech
- Medication dispensing system: Pyxis
Job Responsibilities / Typical Procedures
- Patient transfers
- Bladder scans
- Dressing changes
- Medication administration
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of rehabilitation nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Transfer training

- Rehab scoring documentation
Work Environment & Expectations
- Floating assignments across Med-Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and Overflow units (excluding ICU)
- Bedside report and handoff procedures
- Hourly rounding
- Ensure bed alarm activation
- Work schedule includes every other weekend and holidays
- On-call duties are rare and depend on overall hospital census
