Radiation Therapist
Location: Butte, Montana
Employment Type: Clinical Non-Nursing Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes according to the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription. Key duties include:
- Simulating patients in preparation for radiation therapy.
- Providing basic patient care and education.
- Checking prescriptions, diagnosis, charts, and patient identification.
- Explaining procedures and reinforcing instructions regarding treatment reactions and care.
- Preparing room and equipment (immobilization devices, blocks, field sizes).
- Transferring patients as needed.
- Verifying treatment parameters and documenting doses, instructions, diagrams, and treatment details.
- Performing treatment simulation including cerrobend block fabrication.
- Developing and filing x-rays and port films.
- Monitoring patients for unusual reactions or events.
- Maintaining unit order, cleanliness, and stock levels.
- Completing daily, progress, and discharge documentation.
- Participating in quality and patient safety initiatives.
- Documenting patient care plans, tests, and examination results.
- Escalating non-routine issues to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Ensuring safety checklists and quality controls are completed.
- Promoting organizational mission, vision, and values.
- Performing other assigned duties.
