Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Minimum 2 years of current Medical-Surgical (MS) and Telemetry (Tele) nursing experience required.
• Patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6.
• Experience with Meditech EMR system preferred.
• Float within scope of practice required.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS and ACLS (AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI) required; can pend with certificate of completion confirming class attendance.
• NIH Stroke Certification required for all RN specialties except OR and Psychiatry.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required (except Psych, OR, Rehab, and true Med Surg units).
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) required.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Schedule follows a 36/48 hour rotation over two weeks.
• Ratios may fluctuate based on census and call-ins.
• Every other weekend required.
• Floating to other units within scope of practice.

Health & Background Requirements

• Annual physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions.
• Fit mask testing completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years; Td not accepted)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year)
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted). If positive, chest X-ray and TB questionnaire required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.
• Drug testing within 30 days of start, using a specific 9-panel bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone screening; annual updates required.
• Background checks including national and county searches, sex offender registry, and others required within 30 days prior to start.
• Employment application, skills checklist, work history verification (7 years), and references (2 within 1 year, including at least one supervisor) required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
• Candidates must not be submitted to more than one job at a time.
• Blocked scheduling is not available.
• Floating assignments are part of the role within the nurse’s scope of practice.
