Job Description

• Operate mammography and ultrasound equipment to produce breast images.
• Assist Radiologist with breast cyst aspirations, needle localizations, and other special procedures.
• Perform high-quality mammography according to Breast Center standards.
• Utilize radiation safety protection measures.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and room.
• Accurately document patient information and history.
• Perform quality control procedures.
• Track exams in Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
• Perform a minimum of four images per exam, including magnification and transverse views.
• Ensure patient privacy and treat patients courteously and respectfully.
• Explain tests and procedures to patients, obtain consent, and provide emotional support.
• Assist Radiologist during core needle biopsies if applicable.
• Properly prepare paperwork and obtain patient signatures for release forms.
• Use RIS according to protocol.
• Provide physical assistance to patients as needed.
• Maintain professional communication and handle customer concerns appropriately.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Mammography.
• Knowledge and skill in operating mammography and ultrasound equipment.
• Knowledge of sterile technique.
• Completion of 15 continuing education (CE) hours in Mammography.

Education

• Graduation from an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology school.
• If licensed after April 28, 1999, must have documentation of 40 hours of specific mammography training covering breast anatomy and physiology, positioning and compression, quality assurance/control, and imaging of patients with breast implants.
• Documentation of 25 mammograms performed under direct supervision.
• 8 hours of mammography training specific to digital and tomosynthesis mammography.
• 15 mammography-specific CEUs in the last 3 years.

Certifications & Licensure

• ARRT Radiologic Technologist (ARRT(R)) certification.
• ARRT Mammography (ARRT(M)) certification.
• Certified Mammographer.
• Ohio state licensure.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
