Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (RN)

Location: Monticello, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

Seeking a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to work 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week, including every third weekend.

  • Shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Unit includes Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Triage, Antepartum, Normal Newborn, and Special Care Nursery Infants (including infant IV starts and high flow oxygen management)
  • Patient diagnoses typically 36 weeks gestation or higher
  • 6 Bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Experience working with neonate and infant patients

Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Minnesota
  • NRP required for Labor & Delivery
  • BLS required
  • FHM required
  • AWHONN Intermediate required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within one year of start date, including multi-level searches (7-year, sex offender, nationwide, education verification)
  • Excluded provider checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) required
  • State license primary source verification required
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy fingerprint clearance required before start (candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless approved by facility)
  • Physical exam within one year of start
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccination (no religious declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per Minnesota state guidelines
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof of immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
  • Drug testing within one year of start (9-panel acceptable)

Additional Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required annually (not required for NICU RNs)
  • Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates
  • Two professional references from recent employers within 2 years
  • Completion of facility-specific education modules during orientation (approx. 16 hours)
  • Compliance with dress code and photo ID requirements for badge issuance

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • Traveler must complete Minnesota DHS NetStudy fingerprint questionnaire immediately after contract signing
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting within two weeks of registration
  • Facility requires strict adherence to all health and safety protocols, including COVID-19 policies
