Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience. First-time travelers are accepted. The patient population ranges from infants to geriatrics, primarily adult patients but includes pediatric intubated patients.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification

Job Responsibilities & Skills

  • Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation
  • Administer aerosol therapy
  • Perform bedside pulmonary function tests
  • Perform arterial lines and arterial blood gases
  • Oxygen management and patient education
  • Draw blood from lines
  • Work in a Level 2 trauma center with interventional stroke certification and Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
  • Floating within facility and sister campus as needed
  • Use of clinical systems including Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Rotate weekends every other weekend
  • No call requirements
  • Holiday work expected if major holidays fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
  • Floating between campuses may be required

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Health & Background Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (degree related to specialty)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire required

Additional Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Color blindness test
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (if applicable)

References & Verification

  • Two clinical references required
  • Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity trauma and NICU setting with a diverse patient population. Prior travel experience is not required.
