Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • 13-week travel contract
  • Call 2 times per schedule
  • Must be able to circulate and scrub in the operating room
  • Patient mix includes all OR specialties except open heart surgery
  • Experience required in robotic and ENT surgeries
  • Experience required in ortho, vascular, general, thoracic, and neuro surgeries
  • Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center
  • Charting system used: EPIC
  • Scrubs provided
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care or OR experience
  • Robotic and ENT experience required
  • Experience in ortho, vascular, general, thoracic, and neuro surgeries required

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience
  • Experience in robotic surgery
  • Experience in ENT surgery
  • Experience in orthopedic surgery
  • Experience in vascular surgery
  • Experience in general surgery
  • Experience in thoracic surgery
  • Experience in neurology/neuro surgery

Skills & Competencies

  • Must be able to circulate and scrub in the OR
  • Submit work history with scrub and circulate skills checklist
  • Ability to work across multiple surgical specialties (except open heart)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Criminal background check required within 30 days of start
  • Drug screen required within 30 days of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 3 months of start
  • Physical exam required within 12 months of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
  • Respiratory medical clearance and fit testing required prior to start (annual updates required)
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Other immunizations and titers required: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Color blindness screening required if job tasks require color discrimination
  • Annual education and competency exams required (medication, EKG, IV therapy, etc.)

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
  • Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety training prior to start
  • Completion of pass/fail clinical competency exams within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Compliance with facility floating policy and other facility-specific documents and attestations

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
  • Scrubs will be provided for the assignment
  • Must be able to work call shifts as scheduled

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with a strong background in multiple surgical specialties, including robotic and ENT procedures, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in New Jersey.
