Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Location: Randallstown, Maryland

Job Description

• Position: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
• Patient Population: Patients admitted from the Emergency Department and outside referrals meeting admission criteria (Psychiatric patients in need of acute care are not admitted)
• Unit accepts first-time travelers
• Uniform: Navy blue scrubs required
• Certification in Aggressive Management is preferred (not required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required (no paper copies except temporary receipts)
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
• Employment eligibility verification (I9/E-Verify) required
• Education verification and accreditation confirmation required for nursing education programs
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs
• Various certifications may be required or preferred, including:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • Pass/Fail Testing including EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exams (time-sensitive and must be passed within allowed attempts)
• Stroke and Trauma CEUs may be required or must be completed shortly after start
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (pending results allowed prior to start)
• Required immunizations and titers including:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Respirator fit test to be completed onsite (not required for non-clinical staff)
• Professional references and employment verification required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete health assessment surveys prior to start
• Various facility-specific policies and forms must be completed and signed before starting
• Candidates must be prepared to complete competency exams and certifications as required by the unit
• The facility has strict requirements for passing orientation exams, including EKG/Dysrhythmia exams, with limited attempts allowed
