Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Newberg, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position floats between units as needed.
  • No on-call or standby required.
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
  • No block schedules required.
  • Patient ratios:
    • Telemetry: 1:4
    • Med/Surg: 1:5
  • Must be trained in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing.
  • Preference for nurses with prior travel experience (not first-time travelers).
  • Charting system: Epic (strict requirement).

Facility Type

  • Short Term Acute Care
  • Level IV Trauma Center
  • Total staffed beds: 60

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 1 year of specialty experience in Med/Surg Telemetry nursing.
  • Prior travel experience preferred; first-time travelers are discouraged.

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Floating between units as needed.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • No on-call or standby shifts.
  • Scrub or business casual attire allowed.
  • Parking available at no cost.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray (annual)
    • Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal)
    • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
  • Fit mask testing (N95 or equivalent) required and updated annually.
  • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Education verification and license verification required.
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
  • Completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules prior to start (assigned via LMS).
  • Epic training modules must be completed and transcripts submitted.

Additional Notes

  • Floating policy acknowledgment required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced acute care environment.
  • Epic electronic health record system proficiency is mandatory.
  • Candidates must be prepared to comply with all state and facility-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Prior travel experience is preferred; please screen accordingly.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level IV Trauma Center with a focus on telemetry and medical-surgical nursing in a supportive environment with manageable patient ratios.
