Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Must have circulate and scrub experience in the Operating Room (OR).
  • Minimum 2 years recent acute OR experience required (no screening for applicants out of acute OR setting > 6 months).
  • Recent management roles are not considered.
  • Prior travel experience is required (travelers without prior travel experience may be screened).
  • Must be able to scrub and circulate in specialties including neuro spine, ortho spine, vascular, or robotics.
  • Call is not required.
  • No float requirement.
  • 12-hour night shifts.
  • Unit accepts 13-week contracts.
  • Patient diagnoses require strong experience in at least 2 of these specialties:
    • Neuro spine
    • Ortho spine
    • Vascular
    • Robotics
  • Specialty priority order:
    1. Neuro and Neuro Spine
    2. Ortho/Ortho Spine (majority of joints cases)
    3. Vascular
    4. Robotics
    5. Urology
    6. Podiatry
    7. Oncology GYN
    8. Miscellaneous (General, ENT, Plastics)

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Must be able to scrub and circulate.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • Background checks including local, federal, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
  • Fit testing required (N95 or PAPR training accepted).
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per guidelines.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start required.
  • Immunizations/titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (facility-specific declination form if titer negative), Flu vaccine or approved exemption.
  • Medication safety training required.
  • Orientation: Minimum 36 hours over 3 days (excluding Epic training).
  • Scrubs provided (Ceil Blue).

Systems & Orientation

  • Unit uses PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR communication tools.
  • Staff meetings and communication boards are part of unit routine.
  • Interview with manager required prior to offer.

Additional Information

  • No call-offs or additional RTO allowed after booking; violations may lead to cancellation.
  • Candidates must provide interview availability within 72 hours of submission.

Required Qualifications Summary

  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year.
  • One completed travel assignment.
  • Prior traveler experience required.
  • Experience in at least two of the following specialties: neuro spine, ortho spine, vascular, robotics.
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
