Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVOR
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- 10-hour day shifts, Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Call: 10 days per month, including one weekend per month
Unit & Patient Population
- 3 operating rooms
- Adult and geriatric patients (20s to 90s)
- Procedures include: Aortic and Mitral Valve surgeries, ASD, Redo Surgeries, Esophagogastrectomy, CABG with/without valve repair or replacement, VATS, Thoracotomy, Mediastinoscopy, Mitral Clip, TAVR, Ascending Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Groin Exploration, Port-a-Cath Placement, Robotic Thoracic Surgery, Carotid Endarterectomy, IABP insertion/removal, Myxoma Removal, Pneumonectomy, Chamberlin Procedure, Tracheostomy, VSD
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- National Tech Cert Verification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience circulating in the OR
- Experience scrubbing in the OR
Interview Process
- Manager requires an interview before offering the position
- Provide candidate’s interview availability within 72 hours of submission
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background checks including local, federal, national criminal databases, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (if applicable)
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination), Flu vaccine or approved exemption (seasonal)
- TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
- Required to complete facility-specific orientation and compliance training modules prior to start
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (for travel and acute care)
Certifications (as applicable)
- ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
- BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
- Other certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)
Additional Notes
- No return to origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
- Start dates available as early as May 18 or sooner
- Candidate must comply with all facility-specific documentation and training requirements prior to start
- Photo for badge required (passport style, white background, business attire)
- Candidates must complete the Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation (8-10 hours for acute)
- Medication safety training and other competency exams may be required
